Roll Call
The regular meeting of the Olympia Fields Public Library Board of Trustees was called to order at 6:32 pm.
Trustees Present: Dr. Taneen Brinson (Acting President), Sherry Demian (Treasurer), Elizabeth Hadala (Secretary), Jerry Pierson (Parliamentarian), and Dr. Kametta Clark
Absent: None
Also Present: Mary VanSwol, Alan Shnay, Beth Brecher, Julia Churchill, Carol Byrd, Dr. Tyree Brinson, and Keasar Driver
Minutes
Trustee Pierson moved to approve the minutes of the April meeting. Trustee Hadala seconded. The motion passed.
Agenda
Trustee Brinson moved that the board accept the agenda with flexibility. Trustee Hadala seconded. The motion passed.
Correspondence
Trustee Hadala read a card from Carolyn Johnson, former trustee.
Appointment of Unfilled Positions
Trustee Brinson announced that the Board has six applicants for trustee. The Board discussed scheduling interviews.
Election of Officers
Trustee Demian nominated Trustee Pierson for president. Trustee Brinson seconded. Trustee Pierson accepted the nomination. Trustee Pierson nominated Trustee Brinson for vice president. Trustee Demian seconded. Trustee Brinson accepted the nomination. Trustee Brinson nominated Trustee Demian for treasurer. Trustee Clark seconded. Trustee Demian accepted the nomination. Trustee Demian nominated Trustee Hadala for secretary. Trustee Clark seconded. Trustee Hadala accepted the nomination. The motion to accept the slate of candidates passed.
Documentation
Trustee Brinson wrote a summary of the documents. The trustees need to follow up with current documents. She would like new document retention to be digital. The Board discussed documentation.
Financial Report
Trustee Demian presented the financial report. Trustee Pierson moved that the Board accept the March revised and April financial reports. Trustee Brinson seconded. The motion passed.
Report From The Librarian
Library Director VanSwol reported that the Park Forest Public Library Board swore in two newly elected trustees: Jessica Rodrigues and Joshua Travis. The new officers are President Felicia Rangel, Vice President Lance L. Jefferson, and Secretary Alan Shnay. On May 10, a man broke into the library after closing. The police arrived and arrested him promptly. The library is waiting on a glass company to restore the broken glass. Other projects that the library has pending include replacing the electronic sign and resealing the parking lot. We are waiting on dates for the completion of those projects from the vendors. The next Friends of the Library meeting is Saturday, May 31 at 2 pm in the Conference Room at the library. Summer reading starts June 7 with a visit from Animal Quest at 11 am. In honor of Pride Month, the library will have a tie dye and ice cream party on June 14 at 12 pm. Poetic storyteller Oba William King will return to the library on June 17 at 4 pm in honor of Juneteenth. The library is closed on June 19 for the holiday.
Communications
Trustee Brinson thanked Library Director VanSwol for her work. She addressed the audience and expressed her interest in serving the community. Trustee Pierson thanked Trustee Brinson for her service as interim president.

Trustee Demian moved to adjourn the meeting. Trustee Pierson seconded.
