Roll Call
The regular meeting of the Olympia Fields Public Library Board of Trustees was called to order at 6:37 pm.
Trustees Present: Jerry Pierson (President), Sherry Demian (Treasurer), Keasar Driver, and Fredi Taylor
Absent: Dr. Taneen Brinson (Vice President), Elizabeth Hadala (Secretary), and Dr. Kametta Clark (Parliamentarian)
Also Present: Mary VanSwol, Village Trustee Andrea Townson, and N’Deye Walton
Minutes
Under correspondence, the word should be finer not final.
Trustee Taylor moved to approve the minutes of the January meeting as corrected.
Trustee Demian seconded.
The motion passed.
Correspondence
President Pierson received a message from the county that all of the trustees need to file the Statement of Economic Interest. Two trustees still need to complete it.
Financial Report
Trustee Demian presented the financial reports for September (corrected), November, December, January, February, and March.
Trustee Demian will meet with Trustee Hadala about financial reports so there is a backup when Trustee Demian is traveling.
Trustee Taylor moved that the Board accept the financial reports.
Trustee Driver seconded.
The motion passed.
Centennial
The Centennial Committee for the Village meets the fourth Thursday of the month at 6 pm.
Meeting Location
President Pierson stated that Jessica Washington suggested the meetings be moved to the old Olympia Fields Village Hall to improve accessibility. The library could also be used for meetings. If the Board would like to stay at Olympia Fields Village Hall, they can also keep having meetings there.
The trustees discussed different options.
Report from the Librarian
Library Director VanSwol reported that the library has a new soundproof study booth. Patrons can reserve booth time like they can study room time. The booth is about the size of a phone booth and has a desk and chair as well as built in lights, air, power outlets, and USB ports. The library also has a new book donation box in the parking lot for patrons who are donating large quantities of books. The display case has been repaired with new doors, and the Share Space now has on display a collection of Danbury Mint models donated to the library by the family of Kathy Miller. The Library of Things Grand Opening is April 25 at 2 pm, featuring the Chromebooks purchased with funds from the Cook County Equity Fund. Library Director VanSwol passed out May calendars that list the library’s events for the month.
The Board discussed the Library of Things.

Trustee Taylor seconded.
