Roll Call
The regular meeting of the Olympia Fields Public Library Board of Trustees was called to order at 6:34 pm.
Trustees Present: Jerry Pierson (President), Dr. Taneen Brinson (Vice President), Sherry Demian (Treasurer), Dr. Kametta Clark (Parliamentarian), and Fredi Taylor
Absent: Elizabeth Hadala (Secretary) and Keasar Driver
Also Present: Mary VanSwol
Minutes
Trustee Demian moved to approve the minutes of the October meeting.
Trustee Brinson seconded.
The motion passed.
Correspondence
Trustee Demian received a bill for the surety bond. She paid it.
Financial Report
Trustee Demian presented the financial reports for September and October.
Trustee Taylor moved that the Board accept the September and October financial reports.
Trustee Brinson seconded.
The motion passed.
Budget
Trustee Demian presented the budget for FY2027.
The Board discussed the budget.
Trustee Taylor moved to approve the FY2027 budget with revisions.
Trustee Clark seconded.
The motion passed.
The Board discussed training.
Bylaws
The Board discussed the bylaws. The Board will review the revisions at the next meeting.
2026 Calendar of Meetings
Trustee Demian moved to approve the 2026 Olympia Fields Public Library Board Meeting Schedule.
Trustee Taylor seconded.
The motion passed.
President Pierson asked for a list of dates of the Park Forest Public Library meetings to sign up for
attendance. The Board started a birthday list.
Report From The Librarian
Library Director VanSwol reported that work is underway to catalog a Library of Things for 2026. The
Micro Pantry has been installed. The Library celebrated Novemberfest and the library’s 70th
Anniversary on November 1. The Library will be closed December 12 for in-service training for staff.
The Per Capita Grant application has been submitted for 2026. Library Director VanSwol informed the
Board of several upcoming programs. The “Birds of Paradise” Winter Concert is Thursday, December 4
at 11 am. On Saturday, December 13 at 1 pm, Seasonal Soups 101 Cooking Demonstration with Chef
Susan Maddox will take place. The library will be hosting an ornament decorating program for all ages
on Wednesday, December 17 at 5 pm. There will be a Santa visit on Saturday, December 20.
Registration is required for the Seasonal Soups and ornament decorating programs.
