Chicago's Sweet Bakeries Remembered. Thursday, September 25 from 11 am to 12 pm. Samples will be provided! Explore the history of Chicago's sweet bakeries and top baking companies. Some are over 100 years old, and are gone, but not forgotten. Discover the best places to still buy mouth-watering, made-from scratch baked goods. Registration is required.

Hidden Messages in Negro Spirituals on the Underground Railroad. Saturday, September 27 from 1 to 2 pm. This multi-media presentation, led by Illinois Humanities Road Scholar, Connie Martin, explores music created by enslaved Africans and its connection to the Underground Railroad. Registration is encouraged.
