Position Available: Security Specialist
The Park Forest Public Library is seeking a reliable, professional individual to provide security and building support.
Part-Time Hours - Estimated Schedule: Monday-Thursday 10:15-4:00 pm and Friday 11:15 am-5:00 pm
Job responsibilities include:
- Enforce the policies and procedures of the library.
- Proactively engage with patrons to address issues in order to quickly diffuse situations and minimize disruptions.
- Escort disruptive patrons from the library's premises, call police when necessary, and write incident reports.
- Interact effectively with groups of all ages, including teenage library patrons.
- Patrol the library's premises and provide security for all areas of the library.
- Assist in behavior correction, crisis de-escalation, and emergency management.
- Assist with building and grounds, keep the property clean, answer the back door, and assist with event set-up.
Qualifications:
- Three years of work experience and high school diploma or bachelor's degree
- Experience in law enforcement or security, preferred
- CPR certification, preferred
- De-escalation training, preferred.
- Must pass a background check and a drug test
Compensation:
- $18.01-$27.01 per hour
- Participation in pension plan (IMRF)
- Vacation and holiday time
