Position Available: Security Specialist
The Park Forest Public Library is seeking a reliable, professional individual to provide security and building support.
Hours: Monday-Thursday 2:00-7:00 pm and alternating Friday/Saturday 9:45 am-5:00 pm
Job responsibilities include:
- Enforce the policies and procedures of the library.
- Proactively engage with patrons to address issues in order to quickly diffuse situations and minimize disruptions.
- Escort disruptive patrons from the library's premises; call police when necessary.
- Interact effectively with groups of all ages, including teenage library patrons, monitoring behavior and ensuring compliance with library policies.
- Patrol the library's premises and provide security for all areas of the library.
- Assist in behavior correction, crisis de-escalation, and emergency management.
- Assist with minor building and grounds issues including keeping the property clean, emptying the book drop, and setting up for events.
Qualifications:
- Three years of work experience and high school diploma or bachelor's degree
- Experience in law enforcement or security, preferred
- CPR certification, preferred
- De-escalation training, preferred.
- Must pass a background check and a drug test
Compensation:
- $17.48-$26.23 per hour
- Participation in pension plan (IMRF)
- Vacation and holiday time
