Design. Fly. Win! Join us for an exciting hands-on program where kids become junior engineers! Participants will design and build their own paper airplanes with staff member Mr. Elijah, then put them to the test in a friendly flight competition. Will your paper airplane claim the top spot?! Illinois Extension and the Illinois Master Gardeners are here to present an Insect Petting Zoo! Experience the wonders of the insect world. Learn how insects and insect-relatives function and play an important role in the environment around you. This is a touch and feel experience in which visitors can observe and have the opportunity to hold unusual bugs. Insect petting zoo includes: blue death feigning beetles, Madagascar hissing cockroaches, American millipedes, Bess beetles and a tarantula (spider for viewing, not holding).

Welcome Shamonic Reiki Master, Andrea Polk, back to the library for an evening of tranquility exploring the vibrant wetlands that surround us! This session will begin with an opening circle on the library's lawn. We will be guided in a mindful walking session to the wetland preserve behind our library and engage in a Zen ritual at the wetlands. All will return to the library with a closing reflection and walk back to the lawn. 

Registration and a waiver are required.

Registrants will be required to fill out a waiver to participate as we will be venturing off of library property.

Break out your galaxy leggings, snapbacks, and flannel—it's time to rewind to the Tumblr-core, Frozen-singalong, Avengers-assemble era of the 2010s! Join us at the library for a throwback movie screening featuring some of the most iconic kids/teen films from the decade. Think slime, fidget spinners, and Vine vibes—this is your chance to relive the era of emoji overload and YouTube fame! Feel free to dress in your fave 2010s-inspired look (flower crowns and graphic tees encouraged).

No registration required--call ahead to ensure our Storyteller will be in!

Adults of all ages are welcome to join us the first or second Saturday of every month in the Library Commons for tea, coffee, snacks, and an art project. This month we will be painting stemless wine glasses. Grab a brush and get inspired by one of our provided designs or improvise your own! Once dried and baked in your oven at home, the glasses will be fully functional to use.
