Cookin' Up a Good Book

December 11 - February 12

Gingerbread Man


Ingredients:

A willing (or reluctant) reader, ages 0-18 years

A desire to cook up some fun this winter

 

Directions:

  • Pick some great books from the Park Forest Public Library or your school library.
  • Keep track of what you read on your "Cooking Up a Good Book" book log.
  • Come back to the library for each level achieved on book log to win a prize or receive entry into our special drawings.
  • Fulfill three "activity requirements" to complete the "Cooking Up a Good Book" Winter Reading program. (See back of book log for choices of activities.)
  • Share the fun with a friend.

 

Ages 0-5: Having books read to you and your goal is to read 12 "E" books during winter reading.

Ages 5-7: Beginning to read yourself and you should try to read 8 "E" books to a friend or parent.

Ages 8-11: Read a few good short chapter books. The librarian can help you pick one out.

Ages 12-18: Pick out at least 3 good books (J, Y, or YA) for cozying up with this winter. Or pick 2 big fat ones you've been dying to read.
