LIBRARY CARDS
A valid library card must be presented in order to check out materials.
ADULT RESIDENTS
Any resident or owner of taxable property in Park Forest or Olympia Fields is welcome to obtain a library card. This card will entitle the resident to use the services of this library and all other Metropolitan Library System member libraries. Application must be made in person. No fee charged for a resident's first library card; if a card is lost or stolen, a replacement card will be issued for $2.
All adults requesting a library card must present a driver’s license plus one proof of residence, which may consist of any of the following original documents with a postmark no more than 30 days old and showing the current address:
- Utility bill
- Bank statement
- Credit/bank card statement
- Cable TV statement
- Workplace payroll check
- Federal/state government check
- Driver's permit
- Vehicle registration ID card
- Automobile insurance card with address
- Medical or insurance bill
MINORS UNDER THE AGE OF 18
Applicants under the age of 18 may use identification of a parent or legal guardian as proof of residence. The application must be signed by that same parent or legal guardian.
NON-RESIDENTS
In Illinois, people living outside the taxing area of a public library are considered non-residents. Non-residents are eligible to purchase a library card from the public library under certain conditions. Contact the library to determine whether you are a non-resident eligible to purchase a library card from the Park Forest Public Library.
RENEWING A LIBRARY CARD
Applicants for a renewed library card must appear in person at the library at the time of renewal. Exceptions will be made for children under 16 and medically homebound residents.
Applicants for a renewed library card will be required to present one piece of photo identification plus one proof of address (from the above list) showing current name and address.
