What is MyLibraryDV?
MyLibraryDV, created and developed by Recorded Books, LLC, is a revolutionary new online downloadable video service available through public libraries. The service offers library card holders free access to popular classic Hollywood movies, acclaimed independent and foreign films, documentaries, network and cable shows, and exclusive original programming.
How can one gain access to MyLibraryDV?
Public library card holders can access MyLibraryDV through their local library’s website, as long as the
library has subscribed to the service. Cardholders can then enter their library card number and begin
downloading free video content.
What type of content is available through MyLibraryDV?
MyLibraryDV offers free downloadable video content that includes 30- to 60-minute programming about cooking, travel, how-to, health, literature, law, and much more. Classic movies and award-winning independent and foreign films from Film Movement are also available. Original programming from MyLibraryDV as well as events from local communities will also be available through the service.
TECHNICAL/SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS
What software is required?
- A broadband Internet connection such as DSL or cable
- The most recent version of your Web browser (Firefox and Internet Explorer provide optimal results)
- Microsoft Windows 2000 with SP4 or Windows XP with SP2
FlashPlayer 9 and Windows Media Player 10 or higher with the most recent security update - 1 gigabyte of available hard-drive space
- 1 GHz processor or greater (supports simultaneous record/playback features)
Can I use a Mac with the service?
The download manager for MyLibraryDV is a Windows .exe file and will only install on a computer running Windows 2000 with SP4 or Windows XP with SP2, which enables the Windows Media Player to be installed.
The Mac must have an Intel processor and software that enables the Mac to switch back and forth between its operating system and Windows, where the MyLibraryDV download manager will be installed.
